The lizardmen allow the party to come back to the surface and rest. Alan the magic-user and Logor the cleric have the possibility to regain some spells, and the whole party benefit from a night of rest after the endless fights with the ghasts.
Then it’s time to face the last guardian of this level. They surround the enormous hydra and prepare for the inevitable fight: the only way to reach the talisman which is floating in the stasis-field along with the freezed monster. Alan concentrate and the illusion of a great green dragon takes place where he was standing just a minute before. Sigeric the satyr dash forward and touches the iridescent barrier. It breaks like glass and immediately the monster has eyes only for him: 24 eyes.
Luckly Gorm the dwarf warrior has his battleaxe ready. He cuts one of the heads of the beasts off. Radamel the ranger does the same with the black Vorpal sword. The monster’s heads attack ruthlessly and the outcome of the fight is unclear to the very end. Several snake-like heads fall, but the fighters are all injured. Radamel proves his honor more than once but he’s the one who is in worse shape. Behind the three Alan casts his offensive spells and Logor never stops chanting hymns to St.Ygg. The sacred words uplift the party and enhance their blows. Alfio the halfling also remains on the rear and keeps shooting at the beast with his bow.
Then the Vorpal sword guides the hand of his owner and strikes the foul beast into his chest, piercing the well-protected heart. This is an almost suicide strike as all the remaining heads of the monster attacks the ranger at once. After a long instant, he comes out alive, while the monster fall on the ground.
The party manages to solve the riddle of the portal key and uses it to be transported to the next level. There they confront themselves with three more trials. With cunning they solve the riddle of Dejanira and they manage to escape the halls of the mirrors. In the last trial they meet a thief robbing a sarcophagus. He seems to be to at his ease and the encounter shocks the party more than the previous ones. Sigeric manages to rob him of a pair of gaming dice and has the strange feeling that they’ll prove useful in some sort of eay very soon.
The last level is a metallic platform floating in the void. The mire’s queen’s egg rests inside a flaming barrier. Once again the cunning and the swiftness of hand of our satyr makes the day: He swaps the egg with a skull he has produces from his backpack. Nothing bad happens and the party has now gained the dragon’s egg.
